New things Mac

First new thing...We finally did it. Drew and I let Mac cry himself to sleep. I know most of you are thinking we are a little late on doing it, and we are but it's not as easy and it seems. Drew and I both hate when Mac cries but we also hated the long bed time ritual we went through to get Mac to sleep every night. So last week we let him cry. The first night he cried for an hour, the next night - half an hour and the third night only ten minutes. It doesn't go smoothly every night but it's a work in progress.

2nd new thing. We just went to his 9 month check up and Mac was 24 lbs 9 oz and 31.5 inches tall. Everything looked great.

3rd new thing. While we were in Utah. Katie would sing a verse of a song to Mac and wave her arms and then stop and say," your turn." In return Mac would wave his arms and babble and then stop and wait for Katie to continue. This went on for a while. Really cute. It has now become a daily ritual. thanks Katie.

4th new thing. Some not so cute things, Mac has started biting and throwing tantrums. I have bruises on my shoulders and legs from where Mac has bit me. He thinks it's so funny. I was not ready for the tantrums. I thought he would be older before he started throwing his head back and arching his back. Oh well.

5th new thing. Mac is walking along furniture. If there is something he wants to get to he moves pretty fast.

*Just a quick note. Mac is still not crawling. Just scooting around on his stomach. So stubborn.

UTAH

So we are back from Utah. Our main purpose of this trip was to see Beej and Katie (Drew's sister) get married. Katie looked beautifuf and Beej looked great too. The whole day was perfect. We are so excited to have Bj in the family! All the girls at the temple.
Waiting outside the temple, you would never know that Mac had a rough morning. We left Mac for the first time to go to the wedding ceremony. Poor Annie and Maggie, Mac cried almost the whole time. He wasn't feeling well and has been having attachment issues lately. Not good timing.
The reception was spectacular. Drew's mom made all the brides maid dresses and Mac's little vest. She's amazing!
It was so hot Mac didn't last too long in his suit. He enjoyed playing with uncle Ryan.

Mac being entertained by lemons.

Still lovin the swing!

A four generation picture with my grandpa and grandma Heaps and of course my mom. while I was home I got together with some friends from high school and their babies. Mj, me and mac, Sammy and Jack, Jenni and Taylah, Karrissa and McKinley, Danielle and Henry.

Drew flew home Sunday, Mac and I stayed another 11 days. We had fun spending time with Family and friends but towards the end of the trip we were ready to see Drew.

Mac

Whenever we sit on the couch Mac launches himself at Drew and pulls himself up. He grabs on so hard it hurts. I have claw marks on my arm from when he did it to me.

Mac's new favorite toy is Gerry the Giraffe. When he gets frustrated he attacks Gerry and bites him. For some reason that really calms him down. It's hilarious. Thanks Sammy, it's been the best gift.

We finally got a high chair. I don't know what we did without one. Mac loves it. Whenever we put him in it, he pounds on it and giggles.

Drew's 25!

On 7-7-07 Drew turned 25! We spent the day shopping at the farmers market, swimming, and having a party with some of our closest friends.Happy birthday Drew I love you!!!

So sexy!!

4th of July

Happy Fourth of July! Since it was Mac's first fourth of July we thought we should go to the Lexington parade. Not our best idea. There were no floats and at one point we thought it was a gay pride parade. Pretty much all it was an opportunity for local businesses and crazy people to get in a nice car and put a sign up for free advertisement. It was bad but we had a good time.

After, we went to the Garner's house for dinner. It was nice to relax with friends and eat some good food. Later we went to the Floyd's for dessert and fireworks. It was a great day.

Going Home

Nat and Mac in the airport

This trip was amazing. Eleven days with my family wasn't long enough. They helped so much with Mac and made the trip perfect. Thanks to them I have been going through family withdrawals since being home.

Goodbye Spain, hello Rome

After spending a week in Spain we made our way to Rome. While we were there we stayed in a nunnery across the way from the Vatican. The rooms had nothing but a bed, a desk and prayer chairs. Since we were only in Rome for three days we didn't have much time to lay around in our rooms anyway. The first night we got there we roamed the streets and ate pizza. Just talking about the food makes me hungry. I have never tasted better food in my life. It was a huge contrast from the food in Spain.

The following day we got to go to church. This was our third attempt to find a LDS Church in Europe. Two years ago we were in Switzerland and looked for hours but never found it. Then had the same experience in Malaga. So we decided not to waste precious hours in Rome and got a taxi instead. Later we headed over to the coliseum. Very cool. That same day we saw the Forum and many more cathedrals. Along the way we ate more good food and plenty of Gelatto.
The following day we spent in the Vatican. I loved it. After, we walked the streets and ran into more cathedrals and famous sculptures. There's something to see around every corner.

Inside St. Peter's Cathedral. I was currently feeding Mac outside. I found it funny that they wouldn't let me feed Mac on the church premisisse. Even though I was totally covered, I had to leave.
I have no idea who this Lady is but the Asian ladies loved him.
