random happenings

Happy belated Father's day to all the dads in our lives!

Sometimes you just got to let the water hit you in the face.
the cheering section
Still absolutely obsessed with my garden. All I need is a cat and I'll fit right in with the others.

I still love girl's camp. These cute young women needed rides down to Girl's Camp so Annie took my boys and I went to camp for the day. We went on a nice, SLOW hike. Some things just need to be done faster:) The girls were troopers.

Saw lots of bugs and a copperhead snake. Very poisonous.

You know you're in Kentucky when they have 2 milk jugs for a saving devise. "Don't play with these jugs they may save a life"
Mac still Loves Ike
and he's still not potty trained. Even after 5.5 hours sitting on the little potty, nothin. any tips?

He's 1!!!!

Monday June 15 Gray turned 1! This year has gone by so fast. I remember the night I had him.G was 10 days early and at the time I was hoping I would go to the due date.It was Saturday the day after we closed on our house and the day before Father's Day. All day Saturday I packed and cleaned the new house. After moping the kitchen we (Mac and I) left Drew at the house to get some more work done. I ended up falling a sleep at 12 only to be awaken by Drew and some contractions. I couldn't go back to sleep so I took a bath, did laundry and packed my bags. 2 hours later we were off to the hospital and 4 hours after that Gray was born! He was the best Father's Day present and couldn't have come at a better time!
Gray has been such a great baby. He is feisty as can be but loves to cuddle and say momma in the sweetest way. He can take hits from his brother and fall down the stairs and only cry for a minute. He growls on demand and giggles at just about anything Mac does.
We Love you G!!!
Mac went with Annie to pick out a present for Gray. They picked out some plastic animals which Mac had a hard time giving away. We wrapped it up and he couldn't wait to give it to G. Mac ended up opening the present and saying "Look GG animals." and that was the last time Gray saw his present:).
Mac sang the whole "Happy Birthday" song to gray throughout the day. He's pretty funny!
Opening Nana's present. We can't wait to use the pool!
The girls patiently waiting for a piece of cake.
My first cake made from scratch. Not the prettiest thing I've seen but it tasted great.
Mac blew out the candle for g.

The guys hanging out talking horses. Kev is a bad influence on our husbands:)

Thanks everyone for coming to G's little party! It was a fun night. Thanks Cheryl and Annie for taking all the pictures!
The next morning we woke up to find a package on our door step from Grandma and Grandpa McAllister. More presents to open!
Love this picture. I can't get enough of Gray jabbering on like a crazy person. He makes the sweetest faces.

1 year stats... Weight: 23.6 lbs (70%) Height: 32 1/4 (above 95%)
Gray's new dance when I sing the turtle song.

Thanks everyone for making Gray's Birthday so special!!

Natural Bridge

Last weekend we ventured down to Eastern Kentucky to hike to Natural bridge. It was hot, muggy, and beautiful.
Mac and the stump

Mac pretending he's a bear coming out of his cave.
found himself a walking stick
even though he was carried most of the way

G loved the ride

under natural bridge
Hiking up to the bridge. We heard a rather large teenager say,"They must of cut this trail before there was a Wendy's." I really didn't think he would fit.

On top of the bridge. An amazing view but i was happy when we were off it.

Projects, projects and a little fun

Between guest coming and going we have managed to get some more things done to the house. We Millars love projects. No joke. Drew loves painting (I know he's weird but handy) and I love refinishing furniture and coming up with more projects and roping Drew into them. So here's the latest.

Here's a before picture of the living room, tan/pinky paint on ceiling and top half of wall. Old looking paper, wall paper on the bottom and a big old, gold chandelier. This is the only picture I could find.

Before...

After...
It's amazing what a little paint and molding does. The room is finally coming together. I'll post more pictures once we get more things hung, the bookshelves organized and the funds come in for two more chairs:)

Guestroom/Annie's room...

Two weeks ago we found this bed yard selling for 10$. It didn't look like this, sorry no before pictures. It was brown, beat up and a cat got a hold of it. Have I mentioned I hate cats? After some paint and glaze...

I found this Duvet cover at Pottery Barn this weekend and couldn't pass it up. It's funky and I'm lovin birds right now but it doesn't quite match the purple walls like I'd hoped it would. I guess we'll have to paint this room too:)
Another good yard sale find, they were pinky red and beat up.
Me and Drew went to a firm outing last Friday night. They put us up in a hotel in Cinci and gave us box seat tickets to the reds v. cubs game. Even though Mac was convinced we were out dancing we had a lovely night out on town without kids.
