Moments

Do you ever have moments when you think your heart is going to leap out of your chest? Moments that make you think that life could not get any better? This is why I love my kids. While they are crazy, loud and demanding, there's moments in the day that remind me that being a mom is the greatest job. Moments when all I can do is smile and it's not because they do something grand or spectacular, it's the little things.
It's the boys lining up their toys and the food they found in the compost pile. Then one by one shooting them down with their Nerf guns. It's overhearing Mac trying to explain life to Gray-who is listening intently.
It's listening to Gray's raspy voice. Talking about anything and everything but always coming back to poop or Mac-a-doo.
It's Annie holding on to my hair with one hand and my arm with the other.
It's when Annie relaxes and sighs in relief when I pick her up to feed her.

Moments like these make me thankful to be a mom.

Valentine's Weekend

Drew sent me these....
We played a lot of scrabble. I won 4 times and Drew 3. Surprised? so were we!
Drew took us girls out to dinner...
Bought cinnamon hearts and dipped them in chocolate. Planned on giving them to friends but instead, ate them all. Went out today to buy more. I have to stock up for the year until someone starts selling gummy cinnamon treats year-round in Lexington!
Could not get enough of these sweet cheeks...

the boys got more valentine candy...
And Annie girl smiled a lot...

It was a pretty great weekend.

6 years and 3 kids later

We've made some good choices and some bad choices in our lives. 6 years ago we made a good choice, our best choice. After knowing each other for a short 9 months we were sealed for all time and eternity. It's amazing how little we knew about each other then and how much we are still learning about one another now. So much has happened in 6 years and so much has changed. For example...

Then: He was organized and clean and she was a throw it in the corner deal with it later, type of person.
Now: He is a throw it in the corner, deal with it later type of person

Then:
She didn't know how to cook and he secretly did
Now: she learned how to cook and they eat more than just tacos for dinner and he still secretly knows how to cook

Then:
He wasn't so much a romancer-a used card game missing most of the cards would have been a great idea for a gift and activity
Now: He got 2 dozen roses delivered for their anniversary and he planned the whole night including the babysitting arrangements- and no, there wasn't a used card game involved

Then: She didn't appreciate his gag gifts
Now: she dies laughing every time he gives her one

Then: half the time she went by Ashlee McAllister- it was just easier
Now: No one knows who Ashlee McAllister is

Then:He hadn't been out of the country and didn't see the point in traveling
Now: traveled to 8 countries together and can't wait to see more of the world

Then: He liked to be the center of attention and she did not
Now: He's toned down and she doesn't cry every time she has to speak in front of a group of people

Then: He wore mostly DI clothing- vintage sounds nicer:) and she got dressed everyday
Now: He's traded in those clothes for expensive suits and most days you can find her in sweats

Then: They lived in a single girls apartment complex - they were the only marrieds
Now: There's a lot less girls around

Then: their bed slept 2
Now: their bed sleeps 5

Then: saw each other at least 6 hours a day
Now: Lucky to get in 3

Then: could not imagine what their lives would be like in 6 years
Now: Could not be happier with the way things have turned out

Drew happy 6! Everyday I love you more!

Annie is almost 4 weeks old! time has flown! Here's some random thoughts and happenings...

1.Drew Loves being a dad! While he still feels a little lost around Annie, his bond with the boys is tight.
I honestly can say- this was one of Drew's happiest moments. Drew loves-loves football! The boys and him played football upstairs for a good hour and they were all smiles!

2.When Mac wakes up in the morning he runs to Annie and asks me "Can I hold her or somethin? "then says "I want to kiss her" Mac loves his little sister!
Last night we read a book about mammals and the different ways they protect themselves. This is how Mac applied his newly learned knowledge...

This morning while he was doing his normal holding, hugging and kissing on Annie, she spit up on him. Mac laughed and said "Do you know how babies protect themselves from their brothers, they spit at them!"

3. Annie Spits up A LOT
4. Gray, When I ask him "Do you love baby Annie?" he says "Yes I do! I love baby Annie not baby Reese" We were debating naming Annie, Reese.

5. Gray is a daddy's boy. He walks around saying "Mac likes Mommy and I like Daddy. I Do!" and because he likes his dad so much, Drew is the only person that can talk Gray into taking a bath!

6. I don't think we will ever have another baby in January. Winter blues + baby blues, is not good but don't worry I think we are past the baby blues and now just dealing with the cabin fever/winter blues- but isn't everyone?!

7. when I was pregnant- I was always hot! since having Annie I don't think I've been warm!

8.binkies are the greatest especially when the baby learns how to hold it in herself...
9. Having a daughter is all that it's cracked up to be....

Annie's stats at 2 weeks.
weight 8lbs 13 oz - 60%
Length 22 1/4 inches 95%

Grandma Rita

I'm pretty lucky. I live hundreds of miles away from my family yet I get to see them pretty often. If I need them, they come to my rescue.

Drew's mom left yesterday. She was here for a week helping out. Cleaning, bearing gifts (amazing quilt on the chair), giving advice, but best of all someone to just be around. It was a breath of fresh air! Like I said, I'm pretty lucky!Dropping family off at the airport is always interesting, you never know how the boys will react. This time Mac did great- he repeatedly asked when the grandpas are coming and Gray kept asking grandma Rita if he could go with her.

Thanks Grandma Rita for coming out!
