Our ward did a service project where they orders a bunch of supplies from the church headquarters and made different packets to go around the city. We made lunches for the men's shelter, feminine hygiene kits for the women's shelter, big family packages that contained food for a week, cleaning packages for the refugee shelter and i think that was it. We wanted the boys to see who would benefit from their hard work. They were able to serve lunch and then hand out the kits to those who really needed it. At first they were nervous not wanting to talk or touch anyone but by the end they were starting conversations and Annie was hanging out with a couple frank and April making bracelets. When they saw a little boy their age it confused them/ after we explained that his parents weren't able to provide food or other things for them they said they thought only adults were homeless. I hope this experience opened their eyes to how much they true have how much we can give and should give much more.
