Road Trip!

Ryan, my older brother, called us a couple of weeks ago with this great idea to meet up at our aunt's house in Chicago. Since I only had 5 weeks left until my due date we planned the trip for the following weekend, Memorial Day. We made the six hour drive to Chicago last Sunday. The trip was so fun and though I was nervous to travel so late in the pregnancy everything went great. Thanks to Ryan's ambitious personality we got to see a lot in such a short amount of time.

Memorial day we spent at the race track. I know what you are all thinking, we go to tracks a lot at home, why would we go while we are on vacation? The only answer I can give you is that my husband is obsessed with the industry and was able to talk everyone into going to Arlington Park Race Course. Really, the weather was great and everyone had a great time.

The gang. Cousins Steve and Cara, Uncle Rich, Aunt Ann, Roo, Ryan, Lucy and us
Tuesday we let Mac take a morning nap and then went downtown in the late afternoon. We did a little shopping and that night we went to the Cubs game. It was freezing. Luckily Aunt Ann made us take gloves, hats and a jacket for Drew. We wouldn't have lasted ten minutes at the game if it wasn't for her. We had to buy Mac pants and I signed up for a credit card and got a free blanket in hopes of warming Mac up. We bundled him up and he slept most of the game. I think him and Lucy were two of five babies in the whole stadium. Stupid tourists.

Wednesday we woke up and caught the 9:10 train to downtown. First stop... Memorial park. Mac loved the giant metallic "Bean."

The best part of the trip was that Roo and I won a drawing that allowed us to buy 6th row tickets to Wicked for only $25! To make things even better the boys took the babies so we could enjoy it. We owe them big time. While we were relaxing in the theater Drew and Ry walked all around the city and took a water taxi out to Navy Pier. As you can see Mac got his afternoon nap in Drew's arms.

After, we met up with Ryan's mission companion Brandon who took us to a yummy restaurant where we had the best Chicago pizza.

Mac pulling Drew's hair.

Sweet babes with their matching binkies.

Lucy and Mac did so great the whole trip besides the train ride home that night. Lucy cried (not bad) and Mac ran around screaming from excitement and frustration (bad). We got some nasty glares and overheard funny comments from the other passengers. Drew and I both agreed that the hour train ride home was the low of the trip:)

Thanks McAllister's and Herlin's for a great trip, we hope to do it again.

Mac gabbing

Mac says few words. Mom, dad, dog, bopa (grandpa), bebe (baby), whats that and this and pretty much any animal sound. Our favorite lately is the elephant. But he's not mute. He talks nonstop all day. He totally thinks he's talking and that we understand everything he says. It's pretty cute. I have been trying to get this on camera for some time now but whenever I pull it out he gets shy. Here's our best shot so far. He had just woken up and was not as talkative as usual but you can get the point.

What we've been up to....

Mac has been making a mess of everything but he sure looks cute doing it.

I found Mac hiding beside my bed with a bottle of Vavoom hairspray. Doesn't his hair look great?I think he's a natural; maybe he'll be following in his Aunt Roo's footsteps.
This is our adorable little baby. We had an Ultrasound today and got to take another peek at him. This is his profile to the right with his foot up against his forehead on the left. He's got his dad's flexibility!
The baby measured at 35.4 weeks (we are 34.1 weeks today), 5.5 lbs., 54 percentile and his little feet are already 3 inches long. We could tell that he has a little chin and chubby cheeks just like Mac had in his 35 week ultra sound pictures.

We had one last law school get together with the LDS students. We are missing Eric, Travis, Noah and Doug. We should have taken it when everyone was there, but Drew and Blaine insisted that we take a picture anyway.
Some of the wives.

I have become domestic. Last week I made a hooter hider. I'm modeling it in the picture to the left. Anything to make nursing easier for the next baby is fine by me.
Lately I have been spending my Saturdays going to yard sales. I love finding cheap things. Last week I struck gold. I found a coffee table that needed a little paint job and new knobs. I wish I would have taken a before picture but trust me it was not this cute (the flash made the color look brighter than it really is). It will be a great accent piece when we get the other pieces of the living room set.

Yesterday was our blogs first birthday. That's right. It's been a year since I started this blog and it's been so great. I have tried scrap booking, and other memory type books but I have never been able to keep up on it all but this blog has worked. Thanks Karrissa for getting me into the blogging world. Now I have a complete record of the past year! Happy birthday "whatsnewmillar".

Congrats Grad!!!!

Friday was the big Day, Drew graduated from Law school. I can't tell you how fast three years have gone by. All his hard work paid off and now he has a Juris Doctor degree.

Wednesday night both Drew's parents and my parents flew in to help celebrate our big weekend. Thursday we went to the zoo (see next post). Friday was graduation. The whole thing was perfect. The speakers were entertaining and we all couldn't help but tear up when all the law students walked out. It was a proud moment for us all. They had all the parents stand up and then the grandparents, spouses/partners and kids. They congratulated all of us as well. It was a memorable night.

Drew, we are so proud of you and love you so much!!! Congratulations, you did it!
It was nice of Julie and her son Craig to come. We love the Floyd family.
We were worried that Mac would get bored during the ceremony and scream but he did really well. He was the best clapper there and entertained himself by sniffing and wiping his nose. He's such a goof ball.Drew in the crowd of law students with Eric Smith behind him and Travis Little in front of him. They were just missing Shawn Garner. The 4 LDS law students.
All the law students I could fit in the picture. There were 165 law students that graduated. I had to throw this picture in. This is me, Drew and Jed, three years ago at his BYU graduation. We had only been married 3 months; I was 21 and Drew was 22. We were so young! A lot has changed in three years.

Lions and Tigers and Horses?

Anyone who knows Mac, knows that he's obsessed with animals. Even when he sees a Robin 10 times in a day he acts like it's the first time he's seen it and freaks out. So we thought it would be fun to take him to the Cincinnati Zoo with the people he loves most.

Mac would sit on Grandpa Millar's shoulders and play with his hair. It was a win, win situation. Mac was entertained while grandpa got a head massage.
My favorite were the gorillas. The moms were so tender with their babies.
The white tiger

So independent Mac was overly excited at every exhibit.

We all enjoyed the zoo so much we are already planning another trip. You can't come to Lexington and not expereince the horse industry. Saturday morning we woke up and went to Keeneland for a nice breakfast and to watch the horses work. It was Derby day so there were a lot of people there handicapping and tailgating for the big race.
It was a rainy morning but Mac was prepared with his rain boots and rain coat. He had so much fun splashing in all the puddles.

Later we made our way to Taylor Made farm. After the tour of the stallion barns the girls left to put Mac down for a nap while the men stayed for a breeding session. Lucky them:) I've seen it once and I don't care to ever see it again.

We had such a fantastic weekend with the grandparents. Thank you again for taking time off work and time from the other siblings to be here for the big weekend! We love you.

I heart Kauai

We just got back from a family vacation to Hawaii. It was perfect! It only rained one morning and we even got to see some whales. We flew into Kauai late Friday night, woke up the next day and just relaxed on the beach. Me being pregnant was super white got burned the first hour. The sun is so hot there. Sunday my skin got a break while we had family home evening (it was stake conference on the island), ate a fabulous Sunday brunch at the Marriott, and saw the "Grand canyon." Monday we laid around again at the beach and hiked to Kipu falls. Tuesday we went to another beach. Wednesday we made our way to Princeville. This is the most beautiful part of the island. It's extremely lush. We went snorkeling and went to Queens bath. Thursday we ran errands in the morning cause of the rain and then laid at the beach in the afternoon. Friday we soaked up the last bit of sun, saw the whales and then flew out that night. Goodbyes are always hard but seeing everyone get on the plane to Utah while we sat and waved to them was sad to say the least. We survived the long 10 hour flight there and back and it was so fun to spend time with family. Mac loved all the attention he got. He preferred Scotty and my dad over both Drew and I, which was a nice break. Thanks mom and dad for the best week.

I'm apologizing right now for the overload of pictures. Between me and and my parents we took over 600 pictures and most of them turned out great. Here's what we did.....

Went to Princeville....The boys eating Top ramen. My family loves raw top ramen, since we were little we have ate this as a snack.

Queen's bath...
Waves filling the bath while the boys try to hang on

We went to Hawaii's grand canyon..Not too exciting but what else do you do on Sunday?

We Hiked to Kipu falls where the boys and Roo jumped off the waterfall and swung on the rope swing...
It wasn't the easiest hike with two babies, a very large pregnant belly, and a nonexistent trail.
The boys jumping off the falls Drew on the rope swing
Mac very rarely left my Dad's side

We played on the beach....
