I heart Kauai

We just got back from a family vacation to Hawaii. It was perfect! It only rained one morning and we even got to see some whales. We flew into Kauai late Friday night, woke up the next day and just relaxed on the beach. Me being pregnant was super white got burned the first hour. The sun is so hot there. Sunday my skin got a break while we had family home evening (it was stake conference on the island), ate a fabulous Sunday brunch at the Marriott, and saw the "Grand canyon." Monday we laid around again at the beach and hiked to Kipu falls. Tuesday we went to another beach. Wednesday we made our way to Princeville. This is the most beautiful part of the island. It's extremely lush. We went snorkeling and went to Queens bath. Thursday we ran errands in the morning cause of the rain and then laid at the beach in the afternoon. Friday we soaked up the last bit of sun, saw the whales and then flew out that night. Goodbyes are always hard but seeing everyone get on the plane to Utah while we sat and waved to them was sad to say the least. We survived the long 10 hour flight there and back and it was so fun to spend time with family. Mac loved all the attention he got. He preferred Scotty and my dad over both Drew and I, which was a nice break. Thanks mom and dad for the best week.

I'm apologizing right now for the overload of pictures. Between me and and my parents we took over 600 pictures and most of them turned out great. Here's what we did.....

Went to Princeville....The boys eating Top ramen. My family loves raw top ramen, since we were little we have ate this as a snack.

Queen's bath...
Waves filling the bath while the boys try to hang on

We went to Hawaii's grand canyon..Not too exciting but what else do you do on Sunday?

We Hiked to Kipu falls where the boys and Roo jumped off the waterfall and swung on the rope swing...
It wasn't the easiest hike with two babies, a very large pregnant belly, and a nonexistent trail.
The boys jumping off the falls Drew on the rope swing
Mac very rarely left my Dad's side

We played on the beach....

Spring has Sprung!!

This weekend was perfect. The weather was great (I have a horrible sun burn to prove it) and conference was fantastic. I love, love conference weekend. We are so blessed to live at a time when it's possible that every member of the church around the world is able to hear the same message at the same time.
Mac is totally boycotting the camera. All I wanted was a picture of Mac in a beautiful blossomed tree and he would not cooperate. So Drew just lifted him up in front of the tree while Mac screamed.

These are my favorite pictures. Sunday morning we woke up to no rain! I'm sure all of you have heard about the storms that have been hitting the Midwest; well it's been crazy wet. Since the forecast on Sunday was 68 with no chance of rain and conference didn't start until noon; we headed to the park. Mac was having a blast playing with Drew.
Tonight our friends invited us to go the park with them and while we were there we ran into another family in our ward and their 2 dogs. The only thing that made Mac smile were the dogs. He got more shots today and has been grumpy to say the least. At 18 months Mac weighs 32 lbs and is 35 inches tall and is perfectly healthy:). It's hard to believe that he started out at 8.7 lbs and 21.5 inches long.

Not the best timing

So last Friday our computer starting acting up again. Drew took it in to the IT guys at UK and after working on it for some time they came back saying, "It seems like your hard drive has taken some hits, literally." They asked Drew if he remembers the computer being dropped or hit. Drew replied, "Our 17 month old son pushes it off the table daily, would that be it?" They laughed and said that they needed more time and that it definately needed a new hard drive. After a week they came back with the verdict...."Your going to need to buy a new computer, this one is gone." We kind of figured, so we went out yesterday and bought a desk top computer. We're hoping this one outlast Mac's beatings.

On to Easter...
Saturday Drew and Mac woke up not feeling too great but that wasn't going to stop us from going to an Easter Egg hunt with some friends in our ward. Everyone brought food for the brunch and the kids went out and found Easter Eggs. It was chilly outside but we had a lot of fun.Mac loves his Elmo Easter basket Mac dancing to the dog's barks Drew followed Mac around while Mac picked up the Easter Eggs and threw them. Maybe next year he'll understand that he's suppose to put the eggs in the basket. Isn't their back yard beautiful?!

As the day went on, both Mac and Drew got more sick so we went home put them both to bed and I made sugar cookies for our primary. Sunday morning both boys woke up with fevers and feeling even worse. I got ready for church, made them breakfast, put on Shrek (Mac's new obsession) and left them to lay around - no Easter fun. I later found out that Drew just gave Mac his Easter gifts while I was at church (Wait a minute...this is Drew, and the way it went down was like this: I was laying on the floor watching Shrek and Mac was trying to find something to hit me with. He found a set of plastic golf clubs and came out and started beating me with them. So I opened the golf clubs and taught him how to properly use them). Oh well, Mac doesn't understand the holiday.
I enjoyed a quiet day at church but I missed having my boys around on Easter. When I got home I started making potatoes for dinner and Drew and Mac both woke up feeling a little better so we decided to go to our Friends for Easter dinner. Well, Mac screamed for half an hour then fell asleep on my lap. We lasted a whole 45min there. We came home, put Shrek on again, and put Mac to bed. Later that night Mac woke up and threw up all over me. Then went back to sleep and woke up the next day feeling better but Drew was still sick. Finally on Wed. Drew decided to go to the doctor and found out that he had an ear infection and signs of strep (but they didn't test him for it). After being on antibiotics everybody is feeling great and I got a break from Shrek! Happy Easter!

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday (2 days ago) to a wonderful Grandma who makes the best banana and amish bread. Who dances amazingly and sings beautifully. To the best mother-in-law who makes it easy and enjoyable to be around. Who drops anything and everything for us. To the best mom who tells you what you want to hear and also what you don't (but you need). Who never forgets to call every Sunday to update us on everything going on. The list can go forever, we love you and hope you had a wonderful birthday!

We're Back!

Last night we got home from Utah. We figured since it was Drew's last Spring break we would fly "home" and spend some time with family. We left Thursday March 6 and got home at 11:30pm on the 16. Too short if you ask me. We left Lexington just in time, missing the big storm by just hours and landing in Utah which was experiencing beautiful Spring weather. After we got home I looked at my pictures and realized that I didn't get any pictures of Mac with the family. Stupid! I'm so mad at myself. He was so good with everyone too. He wrestled with my brothers whenever they were around and gave kisses to everyone and I didn't get any pictures of it. He also loved guitar hero. He would carry around the guitar until someone would play it. Really he did so great, he slept good and didn't need anytime to adjust. He's having a rough time today without all the attention.
While we were there Mac threw some funny fits. My dad went out and bought Mac some toys. One of the things he got was a three wheeler. What little boy doesn't like his own trike? Mac. He didn't want anyone to help him but he kept running over his foot when he tried to do it himself. Every time one of these happened he would stand up and scream, shirtless I might add. Scotty and Drew thought it would be a good idea to lift Mac's legs up and push him fast. Well, he screamed the whole time. It was hilarious. I'm sure the neighbors were getting annoyed. (this story really is only funny for the people who were there).

One morning at the Millar's we spent outside chasing Mac while he chased after Conrad (Maggie's dog).
Mac's favorite Drawer
We made it just in time for the new baseball season. We were lucky enough to be able to go to 3 of David's (my youngest brother)games. All of which they won. Mac spent most of the time wandering around looking for dogs and his ball, his two obsessions. Luckily I had my dad and Scotty to chase after him while I enjoyed the games. Thanks.
Grandpa and Scotty trying to teach Mac how to use sidewalk chalk. Mac found eating the chalk more fun than drawing. As most of you know, Jed (Drew's brother) is a fireman so we thought we should go get some pictures at the station, I am sure Mac will have less fun taking pictures at Drew's office.Mac in Jed's bootsMac and Jed playing in the ambulanceLittle Lucy (my only niece) got blessed while we were home. Isn't she perfect?
Mac loved playing in the pop-up tent at my parents. He entertained us by smashing his face against the netting. Scary I know.He can't hide his excitement. Still loves Nat's cell phone!
What do you do when you have a three hour layover at the Chicago airport? Go hangout at the Children on the Fly museum of course. I love this little museum. It's a little play area that has a airplane, with control panels, a slide and a cargo hatch. It also has a helicopter and other cargo boxes that kids can climb through. It entertained Mac for a good hour and half. It's a life saver if you ask me.While I was home I got to go to Lunch with my old roommates from college. I haven't seen Tara, Jen, or Michelle for over two years. It was great to catch up. We just missed Liz and Nichole and our honorary roommates Karrisssa and Mj. Maybe next time.

So the trip was wonderful. Everything was perfect which can be a bad thing. It was hard to leave but after a good cry at the airport I was ready to go home. Now I'm just getting use to doing things for myself again. I spent the morning cleaning, playing with Mac and cooking, 3 things I really haven't done the past two weeks. We were really spoiled. I can't wait to see my family in three weeks and Drew's parents for graduation. We love you guys and thanks again for the wonderful visit!

Medieval Times

I'm sure you can tell that I'm doing some catch up blogging. Three weeks ago our ward had a party. The theme was Medieval Times. The ward was divided into four kingdoms. We were in the red kingdom. Everyone either dressed up in costume or wore the kingdom's color. I opted for the second while Drew and Mac wore red tunics I made, or should I say cut. It was so easy but they turned out cute. The night went like this...Dinner - fried chicken, bread, grapes, potato wedges and deserts, all eaten with our hands (medieval style). Parade - all the kingdoms walked around getting judged. Mac was adorable. As we were walking around he was attempting to shoot his arrows at the people passing. I guess the Judges agreed with me because they gave Mac 2nd place for best costume. When they announced his name, Mac just stood up and clapped for himself. It was pretty funny. Then we had games. All the kingdoms got into it so it was really entertaining. I honestly was a little leery about the whole night but it ended up being a blast.
